This firefox tweak works on versions 2+ and 3. Please follow the steps below:

Type:
about:config (no spaces)

In the address line and click enter, you’ll get a small alert and next step will be to click on the “I’ll be careful, I promise!”

Now on the image you’ll see above you need to right click with the mouse and then New -> Boolean

Now you’ll have the New Bolean Value, you should type this:

config.trim_on_minimize (again, no spaces – just as it is)

click OK, and chose TRUE.
Now initialize firefox (close it and re-open)

The result: saving tons of memory and will make the browser faster.

Now some cool tips to make your firefox run faster! It will take about 60 seconds to setup:

1. Write “about:config” in address bar (without quotes)Write “about:config” in address bar (without quotes)
2. Search for entry “network.http.pipelining” and change its value to “true”
3. Search for entry “network.http.proxy.pipelining” and change its to “true”
4. Set entry “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to anywhere from 30 to 50.
5. Right Click on the page and select New, then Integer. Name it as “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and put its value as 0
