Obviously, by now almost every Potter fan would have used one more more of the swear phrases above. After all, Warner Bros have postponed the release date of Harry Potter an the Half Blood Prince from November 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009.

Some reports suggest that the erstwhile Hollywood studio took this step in the hope of better footfalls in theatres during the summer vacations, which has left the Potter fan community even more outraged. Others say that its Daniel Radcliffe’s stark naked appearance in the Broadway production of Equus. You see, had WB stuck to the film’s original release date (November 21), Radcliffe would have been slap-bang in the middle of the play.

And as Fox news so eloquently puts it,

“That’s not the image Warner Bros. wants associated with bespectacled Harry, who remains chaste and virginal.”

Well, whatver the reason, fans around the globe are bitter and frustrated, and that’s not an assumption. Go to this Half Blood Prince fan page on Facebook and check out the hottest topic of discussion there. Of course, all those fans threatening a boycott of the movie wouldn’t really do that…but I think Warner Bros PR has gone a tad too low after this sudden decision to delay the release of the 6th Potter film.

Dropped calls, flaky network signals, and unreliability of service - thats what consumers are facing when using ipone’s 3G network.

Richard Windsor of Nomura published a research paper on Tuesday pointing out the iPhone 3G’s chipset, made by Infineon, as the probable culprit for the reception problems we reported on Monday. The dropped calls, service interruptions, and abrupt network switches experienced by iPhone 3G users reminded Windsor of similar complaints five years ago, when 3G phones were first launched in Europe.

“We believe that these issues are typical of an immature chipset and radio protocol stack where we are almost certain that Infineon is the 3G supplier,”

says Windsor.

“This is not surprising as the Infineon 3G chipset solution has never really been tested in the hands of users. Some people will not experience these problems as it is only in areas where the radio signal weakens that the immaturity of the stack really shows.”

Meanwhile, the iphone 3G is set for a big launch in India where the gadget has ben eagerly awaited for over 2 years now. However, some tech websites have cautioned the feature-cautious Indian mobile users over the lack of features in Apple’s offering.

Some things that the gadget friendly Indians would miss in the iphone 3G when its launched by Airtel and Vodafone on August 22, 2008 are:

1. Bluetooth: The iPhone 3G has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR but you cannot transfer files over it! It does not even support A2DP and Stereo Bluetooth. All you get from iphone’s Bluetooth are headset voice calls, and that’s it.
2. No copy-paste: This is the weirdest aspect, you cannot copy-paste text inside your iphone 3G!
3. No MMS. While you can e-mail photos, multimedia messaging is absent from the device. And speaking of videos…
4. No video recording. In the world of YouTube, the iPhone 3G does not offer video recording.
5. No voice command. For a touch-screen-only phone, voice controls would have been a huge plus for hands-free or one-handed control. But no, aint there!

Type:
about:config (no spaces)

In the address line and click enter, you’ll get a small alert and next step will be to click on the “I’ll be careful, I promise!”

Now on the image you’ll see above you need to right click with the mouse and then New -> Boolean

Now you’ll have the New Bolean Value, you should type this:

config.trim_on_minimize (again, no spaces - just as it is)

click OK, and chose TRUE.

Today however, in Lok Sabha (Upper house of Indian parliament) speaker Somnath Chatterjee’s words,

“The parliament of India has reached the lowest position, its nadir.”

What prompted Mr Chatterjee to say that?

As most Indians would know, today the Manmohan Singh Government would be facing a trust vote in Parliament. The present government has been in the doldrums ever since the Left parties withdrew support over the “nuclear deal” issue. And just before today’s crucial trust vote… a BJP member shocked the House by walking in with a bag full of currency notes which he claimed was given by a Samajwadi Party leader in return for his support in the trust vote.

That was enough to create a ruckus. Amidst the flutter, Deputy Speaker Charanjit Atwal adjourned the House briefly, leaving members surcharged. Trouble broke out when Ashok Argal, a BJP member from Morena and some others took out wads after wads of currency notes to substantiate their claim that horsetrading had taken place and heavy cash was used to “purchase” MPs for the trial of strength.

Looking at the press gallery, the BJP members alleged that an SP leader promised three of them Rs three crore each, of which Rs one crore was paid in advance. As Atwal asked SP member Mohan Singh to speak on the motion, the BJP members trooped into the well with Argal carying the black leather travel bag full of currency notes.

Argal placed the bag on the table of the Secretary General in front of the Speaker’s podium and fished out 10 bundles of currency notes of 1000 rupees denomination.

Shouting “shame, shame” and alleging horse trading by the Samajwadi Party, the members took turns to flash the money, prompting Atwal to adjourn the house hurriedly.

The incident caught the entire House unawares and members from both sides looked perplexed. When the House reassembled after the brief adjournment, there was no improvement in the situation as the opposition kept blocking the well. Atwal then adjourned the House for the second time on the issue till 1700 hours.

‘It’s a conspiracy’

While SP Chief — Mulayam Singh — accused the BJP of hatching a big conspiracy and said that saffron party’s role in the entire episode must be probed. He further added that the BJP has maligned the reputation of the Lok Sabha.

And who knows, today’s important event might even be suspended after the sad blemish on the Indian parliament. People who call Indian democracy a sham, have found a new confidence today.

1. Keep in mind as you find college and university blogs, that you really ought to post highly relevant comments. Go out of your way to provide value when you post comments, or your comments will get killed.

2.: Do not post the same exact comments on every single blog. You want to avoid “blog spam” as you generate your links. If you’re not adding value and your comments are not unique enough, you run the risk of getting banned by Google.

3. Some people might feel that these tactics are “black hat” or “gray hat” search engine optimization
(SEO) but our position is that if you are providing value, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t enjoy links from .edu sites.

2. Find the right blogs

It isn’t enough to know about college and university blogs. You need a weapon to find the right blogs under the right circumstances.

The weapon of choice is definitely Google.

Here are the first two secrets:

So, your search query should start like this:

site:.edu inurl:blog

This tells Google to return a list of results that includes .edu sites that have blogs. Last I counted, this
will result in about 842,000 results. Here’s a small glimpse of what you’ll get with the search above:

3. Focus on the Good Blogs

You want the “sweet” .edu blogs. Ones that don’t cause you any pain or grief. Don’t do any work until
you know you’re going to strike gold.

Right now, your search query looks like this:

site:.edu inurl:blog

This is good, but it isn’t great. You want to narrow down your search to only those blogs that allow you to comment on them. There are plenty of closed blogs, i.e., blogs that are on .edu sites but you cannot post. These are a waste of your time. So, you need to adjust your search query to look like this:

site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment"

This will drop your results down to 400-500K, depending on the day you search. I don’t know why it fluctuates, but it does. In any event, that’s still 400-500K blogs available to you.

4. Remove Useless Blogs

You still need more focus. To do that, you have to remove more garbage. You need to eliminate blogs that force you to log in. You need to ignore blogs where you cannot comment. At this point, you’ve narrowed your search using the following search parameters:

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment”

The problem is that many blogs are not open to comments (i.e., they’re closed). So, you need to add another parameter. You need to add a subtraction parameter to eliminate blogs that are closed to comments:

-”comments closed”

So, as you can see, you are subtracting blogs where comments are closed by using the minus sign as well as the “comments closed” text. But, you’re not done! You also want to remove search results where the blog forces you to register and log in. Do you have time to create an account and log in just to leave a good comment on a blog? No way! So, you need to add another subtracting parameter…

-”you must be logged in”

When you do this, you filter out blogs that require you to register. This doesn’t always work, but it is very effective.

5. Find the right niche

You’ve got just the blogs you care about, but now it’s time for one last trick: finding the right blogs for
your niche.

Here’s the (almost) final result:

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in”

We use this trick all the time to find outstanding .edu blogs. We then post high quality comments and we get excellent backlinks.

We also get good traffic from .edu blogs when we post high quality comments. So, if you make the investment, you will get good backlinks (i.e., Google Pagerank boost) but also direct traffic from smart, interested readers on your topic.

That leads me to the next point. You can add another word or two to your search to get exactly the right blog. For example, just add “seo” to the search string and you’ll find .edu blogs that are openly discussing the topic, where you can post your comments and get excellent backlinks. Result:

Utilize Google Toolbar

If you’re looking to rapidly fill out blog comments, give Google Toolbar a try. You can rapidly update Googl Toolbar with your name, email address and web site URL. Then, you can focus on your comments on the blog.

If you’re trying to whip through a bunch of blogs then Google Toolbar can help you work magic. However… It is important to post quality comments. If you don’t you’ll get them deleted. Also, remember that there is value in the traffic from the links alone. There’s more to consider than just backlinks.

Bonus: You can quickly determine the Pagerank of the blog using Google Toolbar. This is pretty obvious but it will help you decide if your postings is worth the effort or not.

I quite agree. India might be growing above 8% a year, but it is still a poor country. Millions stay below the poverty line, and struggle to earn even a Dollar per day. Maharashtra itself faces more pressing problems, such as a food, water and power crisis in addition to a high suicide level among farmers.

Indian politicians are of course (in)famous for coming up with such irrational ideas. Mulayam Singh Yadav, during his reign as Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister a couple of years ago wanted to build the tallest building in the world at Noida. Mercifully, it never materialized and saved a lot of the taxpayer’s money. Indeed, such landmarks induce pride to a country, but not when the country cant even feed a major chunk of its population. The rural-urban divide is already threatening a civil-war like scenario for India, and we do not need more of it.

Moves to erect the statue have been described as a ploy to win local support ahead of elections next year. It is a no-brainier in times when politicians are dividing people to fill up vote banks.
